I grew up admiring Vermeer's, 'Girl with a Pearl Earring', the eyes seemed to look
at you from anywhere in the room. This famous
painting is labeled a tronien,
a simple portrait, a quick study, and I attempt to do the same with these portraits.
They are from photographs of people I have met
in Amsterdam with the exception 'Livey',
my youngest daughter, and the 'Suicide Bomber'. That one is a spontaneous repulsion
of what I consider a cowardly act against humanity. |
